In his varied experience including opening multiple urban luxury resorts in Dubai or flagging a Caribbean island hideaway as a Small Luxury Hotel, managing an all-suite hotel in Bangkok or an iconic seaside retreat in Kerala, Ashvin has always endeavoured to provide wonderful experiences to his guests; making sure they return with memories of a lifetime.

In a career spanning over three decades with multi-national, multi-cultural teams, knowing that people bring profits, he has focused on mentoring and developing highly motivated colleagues to deliver old school luxury with a modern twist.

Most recently, after the spectacular re-branding and turn-around of the much talked about FIVE Palm Jumeirah Dubai, Ashvin helped open the FIVE Jumeirah Village Dubai with a team of just 5 people, and then went on to improve the property’s TripAdvisor ranking from 445 to 2 within 30 days of opening, while exceeding financial targets from the second month of operations. Subsequently he took on the assignment of opening and setting up two new luxury hotels in Dubai under the name of Zaya, a sister brand of FIVE.

In between, he makes sure to follow his heart, whether it be working with local weaving, fishing and farming communities or turning driftwood into beautiful furniture; starting a herb & spice garden or developing an aquaponic farm; training under-privileged youngsters to put them on fruitful career paths or helping self-help groups in the unorganised sector; while also travelling extensively, look after his collection of antiques, old books & palm leaf manuscripts and publish a book while working on the second now.

A hotel management and arts graduate, Ashvin has done an Accelerated Management Program in Executive Education from the Yale School of Management, apart from certified courses in Blue Ocean Strategy Simulation, Accounting for Non-Accountants and so on.

Fellow of The Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain & Ireland, The Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) and The Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain & Ireland, Freemason, Life Member of the Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage and Life Member of the Kerala Council for Historical Research, Ashvin will help drive Brand EasyChair Hospitality in the quest to establish itself as a partner of choice; in expanding its portfolio, setting standards high and ensuring profitable operations while retaining the warmth of traditional hospitality.
